POP ART – Pillars of Our People
South Bay artists & residents participated in large-scale community art installation to beautify city beaches.
The 2014 Class of Leadership Hermosa Beach and South Bay residents joined the Pillars of Our People (P.O.P.) Art Contest & Showcase, a community-based celebration of art and culture.
Original works of art that illustrate Hermosa Beach’s healthy, active lifestyle are displayed year-round on the City’s volleyball court poles, just north and south of the Pier.
The project, in partnership with the City of Hermosa Beach, beautifies it’s beaches while fostering core community values.
“Our goal was to make our beach unique and more beautiful than the rest of our neighbors while involving the entire community. This is something that will make us proud to walk on our beached seeing our own art work on the volleyball poles.” said Rob Rubens, Project Manager.
